Underwriting & Auditing Manager
Barbara joined the ATA Comp Fund in June 2022 and is responsible for underwriting growth and profitability goals, as well as managing department’s operations, including risk assessment, financial analysis, quality control, strategic planning, and compliance. She is also responsible for the training and professional development of underwriting and audit staff and serves as a technical resource on complex underwriting projects.
Prior to joining the Fund, Barbara worked in captive and independent insurance agencies, managing general agencies, and with a program administrator providing an exclusive workers’ compensation program to business owners through independent insurance agents in the Southeast. Barbara’s workers’ compensation expertise includes positions as Sr. Underwriter, Chief Underwriting Officer, and Chief Operating Officer. Barbara maintains a resident insurance producer license in Alabama and non-resident licenses in 10 other Southern states. She serves on the Alabama Department of Insurance Industry Advisory Committee and has been a member of and served on various committees with state and national insurance associations.
Barbara and her husband Jeffrey live in her hometown of Prattville, Alabama. She has strong family ties there as her father’s family settled in Autauga County in the 1830s. Barbara and Jeffrey have two adult children, Alan and Carly.
